TomTom Delivers Fresh Maps For Italian Nationwide ITS Project

ITN, Italy, 16 November 2011– TomTom announces it is the sole map provider for UIRNet, an Italian company

financed by the Italian

Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation. UIRNet acts as creator and administrator of the first nationwide public ITS: the national platform for integrated logistics and intermodal transport. By leveraging TomTom’s global map database, UIRNet is able to conduct vehicle tracking & tracing across Italy.

TomTom’s navigable^{map database is the first to reach 35.2 million kilometers of roads worldwide, covering 104 countries and a record 3.4 billion people. The continuous updates to the database, sourced from the combination of anonymous GPS measurements, active community input and country-specific reference material, are key in TomTom’s freshest map offerings.}
