The GameX Girls will join GameX poster girl Alodia Gosiengfiao, and may get a chance to be the portal’s social media ambassadors. They are also set to take home the latest gaming gadgets, exclusive GameX merchandise and access to the hottest mobile and video games.
The contest coincides with a recent report by the Entertainment Software Association, which found that female gamers made up 48 percent of the game-playing public in the United States, indicating the general appeal of gaming – in smartphones or PCs – as a meaningful form of leisure and entertainment.
By launching its search for the GameX Girls, the country’s top gaming portal recognizes this growing trend in the gaming community and seeks to encourage and empower more female gamers in the Philippines.
The contest is open to all Filipino females, aged 18 to 24, who are into playing mobile, video or online games. Aspiring GameX Girls simply have to like the GameX Facebook page (), where they can register and answer questions about their dynamic gaming lifestyle.
They are also required to submit a full-body shot while playing their favorite game, or donning their favorite Cosplay costume.
Contestants shall be judged based on their GameX fan votes, overall impression, personality, as well as their gaming skills in an ultimate gaming battle.
GameX will announce on Oct. 25 the 10 finalists who will vie to be part of the GameX Girls, who will all be launched officially on Nov. 15.
