In response to the report, Climate Change: Evidences and Causes, published today by the US National Academy of Sciences and the UK Royal Society, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) issued the following statement from Lou Leonard, vice president for climate change:
“For too long, misinformation has been the currency of choice for those wanting to delay meaningful climate action. Today’s report by two of the most trusted names in science debunks the most egregious of these myths by answering common questions with clear answers. The loudest and clearest answer is this: climate change is real, it’s already happening, and it’s caused by us.
“The good news is we have the technology to win this fight. From rooftop solar panels on homes across America to extreme energy efficiency measures by leading companies across the globe, we’ve already begun to take up the call.
“Now it’s time for our leaders to lead. They must set a clear vision for the decades ahead and give us a goal to aim at for 2025 and beyond. Most importantly, they must come together in Paris next year to chart a course that will prepare us for a safer and more prosperous future."
