Toshiba to Unveil Leading-edge Technologies at CES 2014

LAS VEGAS, January 6, 2014 and TOKYO, January 7, 2014—Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) will invite visitors to the Consumer Electronics Show, CES 2014, to experience Toshiba’s latest advances in digital technologies, under the theme of “Life Style Innovation – Displays That Change Your Life”.

CES 2014 will run from January 7 to 10 in Las Vegas, and Toshiba will be at Central Hall, booth #10926

Major Exhibits of New Technologies

1.      Future Zone

Toshiba will shine a light on displays in innovative digital products with an array of feature reference products that will bring a new level of value and convenience to daily life.

(1)  4K Ultra HD related products of next generation

A 4K Ultra HD TV with a Toshiba-developed graphic engine and a panel module that realizes superb image quality; a 4K Ultra HD TV with a curved screen that draws viewers into the image; a 105-inch TV with approximately 11 megapixels (5120×2160); and a notebook PC with 4K panel.

(2)  Multi Display In Black Mirror

Stylish displays in mirror that show useful information, responding to needs in each living space like kitchens or living rooms.

2.      Current Zone

Toshiba will introduce new products and services for the US market.

(1)  Chromebook

One must-see is Toshiba’s first “Chromebook” notebook PC running the Google Chrome OS. Its stylish, simple chassis design satisfies needs for mobility as well as usability.

(2)  Tablets

An extensive tablet line-up will feature 8-inch tablets running Windows 8.1®, 7-inch AndroidTM tablets of entry model, and 10.1-inch AndroidTM tablets with a handwriting function that utilizes TruNote.

(3)  Business-oriented PC Service

The latest business-oriented cloud solution services on show will include Toshiba Cloud Client Manager (TCCM) for efficient management and maintenance of IT assets, and Toshiba Smart Client Manager (TSCM), with newly added functions such as a failure prediction feature for HDD.

(4)  4K decoding technology

Toshiba give a demonstration of 4K decoding technologies compliant with HEVC, the video compression standard that is expected to be used in future 4K broadcasts and 4K video streaming.
