Cupertino, Calif. – January 11, 2010-- Noted for its superior social networking tools, and dynamic, interactive communication features, Trend Micro’s intranet site is recognized to be among the best in the world by user-experience research firm Nielsen Norman Group who recently announced the winners of its tenth annual intranet design contest. Trend CommUnity, the company’s intranet site, was listed among Nielsen Norman Group’s 2010 Top 10 Best Intranet Sites.

"With a wealth of opportunities for employees to participate on the site, the Trend Micro site encourages interactive communication. Social networking tools including personal pages, interactive executive communications, and even a points system for providing feedback to others at the company make for a unique intranet," said usability expert Jakob Nielsen, principal of Nielsen Norman Group.

“I applaud our intranet design team, which is completely in-house, for creating an intranet site that truly reflects Trend Micro’s vision and trans-national culture,” said Jenny Chang, chief cultural officer and co-founder of Trend Micro. “Trend CommUnity reaches over 4,000 employees and provides a central platform for high-level messages, and cross-regional communication and collaboration. Through our team’s dedication, we are able to ensure that all Trend Micro employees around the world can access and share important information through one single channel.”

In 2009, the intranet team successfully released the “next-generation” of Trend CommUnity: the iTrend CommUnity, which integrates with the widget framework developed by Trend Micro’s R&D department. Through iTrend CommUnity, employees can customize their own intranet pages with various internal and external widgets that help with daily tasks and improve productivity. The release of iTrend CommUnity represents Trend Micro’s Enterprise 2.0 version of its intranet.

“iTrend is the perfect example of successful cloud computing and Trend Micro’s perpetual aim towards innovation,” said Eva Chen, CEO and co-founder of Trend Micro. “Internally, the iTrend CommUnity is the cornerstone of fostering innovative ideas, efficient productivity, and encouraging optimal collaboration among all employees.”
