True Lore is a website that is dedicated to bringing the art of fiction to a whole new, web 2.0 level. A social network, True Lore features many of the same functions and capabilities that are found on popular sites such as Facebook, Myspace, and LinkedIn. The difference is that TrueLore actively encourages its members to sign up under fake fantastical personas, and to interact with the site as a vampire, werewolf, elf, demon, slayer, or any of an infinite variety of other characters.

On this unique fictional social network nobody is judged based on information from the real world. Instead you interact with each others personality, in a pure form. On True Lore you are not your job, you are not your friends, you are not even your physical appearance, instead all that you are is the power of your creativity, and the beauty of your personality.

This unique twist on social networking results in the creation of a whole new kind of fictional world, in which characters in the story have their own minds, and souls. Members can flesh out the personality of their characters through a descriptive profile page, biographical images and videos, and using a friend system that allows them to define their role in relation to other members.

A system of blogs known as “journals” allows each character to tell the story of their lives on an individual basis. This fictional blogging is a new style of storytelling, which is much more personal and dynamic than tradition models. A commenting system allows others to actively participate in the stories as they are told. Many members choose to weave their fictional blogging storylines around one another’s, to bring their characters together in shared stories told from individual points of view. Complex stories can be told and retold by dozens of members, each one adding details, perspective, and insight to the situation.

Direct interaction amongst members takes place in a variety of chat rooms, forums, and through an instant messaging system.
