The Tulsa Airports Improvements Trust has approved a decreased budget for 2011-2012, which is expected to have an impact on landing fees as well as other areas of airport operations, including parking on site at the airport.

Suffield, CT, June 27, 2011 (PressReleasePoint) -- The new budget is 2.3% lower than the one passed for the previous year. The lower budget is said to be a continuation of the airport’s ongoing cost reduction strategy, but one impact is to be the elimination of free on site parking for people collecting passengers from Tulsa International Airport. On-airport parking costs for those taking flights are also likely to rise as a result.

Previously, they could park for free for up to 30 minutes while waiting for someone but this service will have to go as efforts are made to reduce airport costs. Other changes implemented through the budget include terminal rents increasing by 5.71 percent and landing fees up by 0.34 percent for major airlines. The cost cutting measures are being described as the result of erratic weather, expensive energy costs and a tough economy.

Passengers at Tulsa International Airport looking for an alternative to parking at the airport can make use of off site parking lots that offer a comprehensive service and shuttle transfer to the airport.
