Twitter Festival (Twestival) of Exeter will use the product to broadcast the charitable event live, online to those unable to attend the event in person

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI (February 25, 2010) – On Thursday, March 25, 2010, people in hundreds of cities around the world will come together offline to rally around the important cause of Education by hosting local events to have fun and create awareness. Twestival™ (or Twitter Festival) is an event that uses social media to raise awareness and funds for various charitable projects around the globe. This year, event organizers are partnering with Ustream and Fresh ID, LLC of Kansas City, Missouri to allow those unable to attend the events in person to participate virtually by using Twitterface, an online application that allows users to view live video of the event and interact with other viewers via Twitter. Those wishing to attend the online event can do so at www.twitterface.com/exetertwestival.

“Twestival is an excellent example of how social media can be used to make a difference in our community,” states Fresh ID CEO Lisa Qualls. “Twestival has been able to create widespread awareness and raise significant amounts of money that have enabled charities such as Charity Water and now Concern Worldwide to harness the power of human relationships for the greater good of others. We are extremely excited to partner with Twestival in allowing for those unable to physically attend the event to interact and participate in the efforts online.”

In 2009, Twestival events raised over $750k for over 135 charities worldwide by sending 100% of all ticket sales and donations directly to various charitable projects. Funds raised from the events resulted in more than 55 wells in Uganda, Ethiopia and India having a direct impact for over 17,000 people.

This year, Twestival will focus on education and 72 million children in the world who do not have the opportunity to go to school. Concern Worldwide has been selected by the Twestival global team and local organizers to be the recipient because of their comprehensive and well-respected approach to education. Concern Worldwide plans to address issues such as hunger, water, teacher training, building of schools, etc.

Live streaming of the day’s events will begin on Thursday, March 25, 2010.
