U-save Costa Rica now offering prepaid gas cards

Customers now have the option of using a prepaid card to fill up their tank and save money in the process.

San Jose, Costa Rica, February 23, 2010- Customers who rent a vehicle at any U-Save Costa Rica location, now have the option of purchasing a prepaid gas card, which can be used to fill up their tank at a local service station. The advantage of using this special card is that the price of the fuel is much cheaper than would normally be at the pumps. In fact, the cost of the prepaid card represents a savings of 15% with respect to the price that one would normally pay at any gas station in Costa Rica.

Because Costa Rican gas prices are subject to government regulation, every service station has exactly the same rates for regular and unleaded gasoline as well as Diesel fuel. While this is convenient for consumers, it makes saving money on gas next to impossible. Furthermore, prices fluctuate fairly often, mostly due to government approved increases. Given the fact that shopping around for better gas prices simply isn’t an option, any opportunity to save money on fuel is a welcome relief.
