This V.44 data compression software uses a new string-matching algorithm for a higher degree of data compression.

Toronto, Canada – GAO Research Inc. is offering its V.44 Data Compression Software which implements all the mandatory features of V.44 ITU-T international standard. It uses a new string-matching algorithm for a higher degree of data compression, thus increasing upload and download speeds providing a particularly noticeable improvement over V.42.
This V.44 data compression software consists of both an encoder and decoder. It is used with V-series data circuit-terminating equipment (DCEs) as well as packet switch networks such as the Internet. This software offers better compression performance for certain types of data than the V.42bis standard. Depending on the kind of data, compression ratios of 6:1 are attainable with V.44. It automatically switches between compressed and transparent modes, allowing overall performance gain without loss in throughput for file streams that are not compressible.
This V.44 data compression software belongs to GAO’s family of Soft Modems.
