Entertainment tax attorney Michael Morris to moderate California Copyright Conference's panel discussion "Monetizing Music Publishing," which will cover the buying, selling and borrowing against copyrights in an active music publishing market.

Attorney Michael Morris of Valensi Rose, PLC will moderate California Copyright Conference's panel discussion "Monetizing Music Publishing" on March 9, 2010 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Sherman Oaks, California.

Music publishing has become a very lucrative business. Buying, selling and borrowing against copyrights remains an active market. In these challenging economic times, lenders are offering publishers and writers creative ways of generating cash flow.

Mr. Morris states, “Music publishing commerce is a vibrant market. Buyers and sellers of copyrights need to be well informed about current deal structures and financing opportunities. The same holds true for rights holders who wish to borrow against these assets. That is the purpose of our panel.”

The panel will discuss music catalog valuation and deal structures for sales and securitization purposes, how royalty streams can be pledged, what lenders require to finance publishing deals, and the due diligence steps publishers can take to enhance copyright value.

Other panelists on the California Copyright Conference's panel include Keith Bernstein, CEO of Royalty Review Council, Eli Ball of Lyric Financial, Jay Morgenstern from Morningstar Enterprises, Joanna Lucchesi of HSBC Private Bank and Gary Roth of BMI.

Mr. Morris, past president of the California Copyright Conference, has been named a “Super Lawyer” among Southern California lawyers for five consecutive years, from 2006 through 2010. He was also designated by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of "L.A.'s Top 100 Lawyers" in 2009. his clients include Grammy winners and other recording artists, record labels, production companies and music composers.

The event will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott at 15433 Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, CA.
