Ventureneer Webinar Prepares Leaders to Meet the Media
New York, NY, November 27, 2009 -- For those whose heart stands still when they hear the phrase, “There's a reporter on the phone,” don’t miss a great opportunity to get help online. Media coverage can be a terrific asset for raising or enhancing the profile of an organization, whether for-profit or non profit, but only if the leader is ready to handle the process.
“If you are clear, confident, and understand how to work with the media, you can boost the image of your business and garner support, whether new customers or new contributors,” says Geri Stengel, founder and president of Ventureneer, which is hosting the FREE Meet the Media webinar. “If you aren't media-savvy, that public relations opportunity could be lost.”
Ventureneer’s FREE Meet the Media webinar will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9. It is designed to make leaders feel calm, cool, and in control when a reporter is on the phone or at the front desk. It is applicable to non profits, social enterprises, and small business owners.
Karen Palmer, a media pro, will walk entrepreneurs and nonprofit executives through the steps to take so that they are confident when they engage with any journalist, no matter what the medium. Leaders learn what information they need to know before the interview, techniques for framing the discussion in a positive way, and how to manage difficult conversations.
Palmer is an independent TV producer and media strategist. She spent more than 20 years as a producer, writer, and manager for CBS News, CNN, and MSNBC, and earned four Emmys along the way. Now she also works with small businesses and non profits.
The skills discussed in the Meet the Media webinar will be valuable to any small business owner or social entrepreneur as well as non profit leaders who may become the organization's spokesperson, either by plan or by circumstance, including the board chair, the executive director, the community liaison, and the designated company spokesperson.
Registration is free.
