Both non profits and for-profits are looking for ways to rev up their revenue streams as the recession fades. Cause marketing is the tool that lets them both benefit ... by working together.

New York, NY, November 27, 2009 -- With endowments shriveled by the Great Recession and donors reluctant to make commitments, non profits are searching for additional revenue streams. One form of revenue getting a lot of attention is "cause marketing," in which a non profit and a for-profit team up to their mutual advantage. The non profit gains access to the larger PR resources and the customer base of the for-profit while the for-profit gains access to consumers motivated by social responsibility.

"Cause marketing is about forming a practical partnership between the for-profit and non profit sectors," says
Geri Stengel, who is the founder of Ventureneer, an online education and peer support service, and an adjunct professor at The New School. "It isn't about begging for donations or giving without getting. It's about mutual gain."

Stengel will be teaching the free Ventureneer webinar Cause Marketing Basics, which will take place at 12 noon on Dec. 8.

Cause marketing has grown from virtually nothing in 1983 to an estimated $1.55 billion in 2009, according to IEG Inc., a Chicago-based firm that tracks cause-related spending in the United States. In fact, although cause-marketing grew by just 2 percent in 2008-2009, it was the only form of fundraising that did grow that year.

Cause marketing helps non profits raise money and increase their visibility; corporations improve their reputations and increase profits; and consumers feel like they’re making a difference. The webinar Cause Marketing Basics will help you decide if cause marketing is right for your organization.

"Cause marketing can be very successful," Stengel says, "but finding the right partner and putting together the right package is critical to that success."

The webinar will help you answer:
*What buy-in is needed within an organization to pursue cause marketing and how do I get it?
*What motivates corporations to partner with a non profit?
*How do I determine what value my proposition is to a corporation?
*How do I price packages?
*How do I insure that both the non profit and the corporation are satisfied at the end of the program?

Who Should Attend?
Non profit leaders, board members, non profit executive directors, chief financial officers, fundraisers, and corporate marketing executives who want to put together a socially responsible opportunity for their organization.
