Ventyx Releases Detailed Analysis and Projections for Western European Power Market
1H 2014 Reference Case report and local workshop provide guidance for clients’ power investment decisions and forecasts electricity markets to 2030
August 28, 2014
ZURICH (28 August, 2014)—Ventyx, an ABB company, today announced availability of its 1H 2014 Western European Reference Case, a semiannually updated report detailing Ventyx's integrated market-based model of the Western European energy industry. The detailed report answers key questions about power markets – such as the projected level of capacity payments needed to maintain security of supply – drawing on more than 15 years of power sector analysis, data and forecasting by the Ventyx Advisors team.
"It is a tough time for European generators, with spark spreads staying stubbornly low and gas-fired generation being mothballed or consigned to reserve across Europe. Capacity markets are promised for many countries, but what will they deliver?" said Ventyx GM Energy Portfolio Management Solutions Tom O'Meara. "The Western Europe Reference Case report will help our customers answer this question, as well as understand the impact of myriad interdependent market forces, and what it all means for generation across Europe.”
The updated Reference Case reflects the key drivers of changing energy market revenue, including plant retirement, demand growth, renewable resource expansion and transmission capacity expansion. It then examines a range of different potentially achievable bidding strategies and what these mean for energy market revenue, a key determinant of bids – and therefore prices – in future capacity markets.
The Ventyx Power Reference Case report is available immediately. For more information, contact your Ventyx sales representative or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
