Vijay Prasad named to PMI Board of Directors
Newtown Square, Pa., 12 November 2009 — Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading project management professional membership organization, has elected Vijay Prasad, M.Tech, PMP, and four others, to its Board of Directors. The volunteer leadership group governs PMI and carries out the purposes and objectives of the organization and is comprised of 15 elected directors-at-large, each serving three-year terms. Mr. Prasad is the first volunteer from India to serve as a PMI board member.
Mr. Prasad is an alumnus of the National Institute of Technology, Warangal and the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He has more than 25 years of global project management experience and has assumed strategic leadership roles at both profit and not-for-profit organizations. He is a founding member of Health Management & Research Institute (HMRI), India, a not-for-profit organization delivering healthcare to the underprivileged through innovative technologies and best management practices. Earlier, Mr. Prasad was chairman of the Board for Knowledge Dynamics Pte Ltd., Singapore, and also a director on the Board of C&S System Technologies Pvt Ltd, a joint venture started between Computer Associates International Inc, USA and Satyam, which later became a wholly owned subsidiary of Satyam. Mr. Prasad held the positions of Head of Enterprise Applications and Business Intelligence Solutions global practice group and CIO at Satyam.
He is currently an advisor to Mahindra Satyam, a global IT services company.
Mr. Prasad has been a frequent contributor at PMI Leadership Institute meetings, presented at PMI Global Congresses, and remains a tireless advocate for PMI and the project management profession. He has been an advisor to PMI Pearl City Chapter, Hyderabad, India. He was the first chairman of PMI Team India, an integration of all chapters in India aimed to derive synergy to accelerate PMI’s envisioned goal.

PMI Board of Directors, the international volunteer leadership group is responsible for setting strategy, establishing policies, and providing oversight to meet the needs of the PMI members and other stakeholders worldwide. Others newly elected to the Board of Directors for 2010 include Shirley Edwards, PMP; Frank Parth, MSSM, MBA, PMP; and Ricardo Triana, PMP. Eugene Bounds, PMP, was elected to his second three year term and named Chair of the Board. The newly-elected board and its Board-elected officers will take office on 1 January, 2010.
