Vocal Jazz Workshop Concert on April 12 to Feature Multiple Singers

                        HOLLAND - Multiple student singers will perform during a Vocal Jazz Workshop Concert at HopeCollege on Tuesday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The program will include "F Blue," featuring all of the singers;  "No More Blues," by Antonio Carlos Jobim/Hendricks/Cavanaugh, sung by Lindsay Allward; "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," by Duke Ellington/Bob Russell, sung by Carrie Cushman; "Georgia," by Hoagy Carmichael/Stuart Gorrell, sung by Lauren Schira; "Summertime," by George & Ira Gershwin/Dubose Heyward, sung by Emily Dammer;  "Fly me to the moon," by Bart Howard, sung by Ji-Min Jeon; "That's All," by Alan Brandt/Bob Haymes, sung by Kyle McLellan;  "It had to be you," by Gus Kahn/Isham Jones, sung by Alexandria Brennan;  "Is you is or is you ain't (my baby)," by Louis Jordan/Billie Austin, sung by Brooke McBride; "Night and Day," by Cole Porter, sung by Andrea Reinecke; "I'd Rather Drink Muddy Water," by Eddie Miller, sung by Vida Wilson;  "East of the Sun (West of the Moon)," by Brooks Bowman, sung by  Erin VanDellen; "Misty," by Erroll Garner, sung by Angelee Garcia;  "Who is he and what is he to you," by Bill Withers/Stan Mckenney, sung by Joel Garner with backup vocals by Lauren Schira and Edye Evans Hyde; "The Very Thought of you," by Ray Noble, sung by Jordan Walters; and "Who Will Comfort me," by Melody Gardot, sung by Mark Waterstone.

Faculty member Edye Evans Hyde is the vocal coach. Accompanying instrumentalists include faculty members Charlie Hoats, bass, Steve Talaga, piano, and Mike VanLente, drums; and senior Caleb Murray of Half Moon Bay, Calif., saxophone.

Performers in the show include senior Lindsay Allward of Commerce Township; sophomore Alexandria Brennan of Harper Woods; senior Carrie Cushman of Portland, Ore.; sophomore Emily Dammer of Galesburg, Ill.; senior Angelee Garcia of Belmont; junior Joel Garner of La Jara, Colo.; senior Ji-Min Jeon of Holland; junior Brooke McBride of Rockford; junior Kyle McLellan of Fort Wayne, Ind.; senior Andrea Reinecke of Eaton Rapids; junior Lauren Schira of Portage; junior Erin VanDellen of Lake Orion; junior Jordan Walters of Austin, Texas; senior Mark Waterstone of Holland; and sophomore Vida Wilson of Grand Rapids.

Nykerk Hall of Music is located in the central Hope campus at the former 127 E. 12th Street between College and Columbia avenues.
