GAO Research's G.722.1 vocoder is compliant with the ITU-T standard and operates at bit rates of 24 kbps and 32 kbps. Like all wide-band speech coders, the speech signal is sampled at 16 kHz.

G.722.1 can handle speech and audio signal bandwidth up to 7 kHz, compared to 3.6 kHz in narrow band speech coders. G.722.1 vocoder is based on transform technology using a Modulated Lapped Transform (MLT). The vocoder operates on 20 msec frames (320 samples) of audio and has a look-ahead of 20 msec. The total algorithmic delay is 40 msec.

This G.722.1 speech vocoder belongs to GAO's family of Speech Vocoders.
