Vocon manages AutoCAD files and navigates project documents with Organice

(PressReleasePoint) - Boston/Wausau, USA, January 26, 2009 - Cadac Organice, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and developer of Organice, a SharePoint based engineering document management solution, has implemented Organice at Vocon, enabling them to manage their AutoCAD files and to navigate their project documents.

Vocon is a full service Architecture and Interior Design firm providing services through three business entities, Vocon Design, Vocon Architecture and Vocon Partners. Increasing efficiency in their design studio was the main objective of Vocon. To get more control over revisions, to make it easier to exchange information with external consultants and most importantly, being able to access information more efficiently. Microsoft Office SharePoint Server seemed a natural fit for these needs. However, SharePoint did not offer Vocon support for compound documents such as AutoCAD drawings and designs, nor did it offer an intuitive document and project structure to navigate.

After a thorough analysis of different SharePoint solutions to manage CAD files, Organice Explorer came out on top. Dana Martinak, IT Director at Vocon: “Organice Explorer not only provided the necessary integration with AutoCAD, including XREF management, but also provided a user friendly interface presenting project documents in a well structured way, very similar to the way we are used to work.”
