China., March 18, 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) -Voice Activity Detector, Comfort Noise Generator Software Allowing Discontinuous Transmission
Toronto, Canada - GAO Research Inc. ) recommends its Voice Activity Detector (VAD), Comfort Noise Generator (CNG) software used to reduce the transmission rate during silent periods of voice transmission. This software is based on a Voice Activity Detection (VAD) algorithm and a Comfort Noise Generator (CNG) algorithm that allows the insertion of an artificial noise during silent intervals. This software is able to operate on a variety of DSPs and processors.
This Voice Activity Detector (VAD), Comfort Noise Generator (CNG) software allows discontinuous transmission which is necessary to avoid noise modulation introduced when the transmission is switched off. If the background acoustic noise presented during active periods abruptly disappears, the noise modulation may reduce the intelligibility of speech. It is implemented in assembly or C.
This software features user-callable functions and is able to work with all GAO’s speech vocoders. The purpose of the VAD is to reliably detect the presence or absence of speech and to convey this information to the CNG algorithm. The purpose of the CNG algorithm is to create a noise that matches the actual background noise with a global transmission cost as low as possible.
This Voice Activity Detector (VAD), Comfort Noise Generator (CNG) software belongs to GAO's family of Telephony Software. GAO provides a complete package for telephony that includes speech compression modules and telephony modules. The software packages can be used for Feature phones, Internet Phones multi-channel computer telephony boards, soft PBXs and Voice over IP. Other popular software in this line include Caller Identification Software suitable for analog or digital telephone, video conferencing, and answering machines, Acoustic Echo Cancellation G.167 Software which eliminates one of the biggest problems with hands-free speaker phones: acoustical echoes, as well as MF R1/R2 Software which is an implementation of ITU-T Recommendations Q.320, Q.322, Q.323, and Q.441 for multi-frequency signal receiving equipment.
