VTLS to Exhibit at Library Journal’s Power to the Patron Virtual Tech Conference
Nov 29, 2011
For Immediate Release
Blacksburg, VA – VTLS Inc. is proud to be an exhibitor at the first Virtual Technology Summit, taking place on December 8, 2011. The summit will be focusing on the modern user-centric library, showcasing technologies that empower your patrons. We will be presenting VTLS solutions - user interfaces and behind-the-scenes infrastructure - that make digital delivery, self-service and even more other innovative services possible. Featured VTLS products will be Chamo (Virtua's Social OPAC), Vorpal (a full-featured Drupal-based portal to your ILS or repository) and Drupal Consulting Services.
The Chamo Social OPAC for Virtua lets your patrons create lists, tag, review and rate items, as well as link to social sites like Facebook and Twitter, even from their mobile device. Chamo embraces Web 2.0 social networking by letting patrons create a “community” to easily post search results on social networks, including Facebook and Twitter. Patrons can subscribe to RSS feeds, which allow them to receive automatic updates when their search content changes.
VTLS provides support for Drupal by offering API’s, VTLS custom modules and consulting services for Drupal implementations. Providing a flexible front end for Virtua, VTLS can assist with using Drupal to customize your website, including giving customers control over the user experience at all touch points. VTLS consulting and Drupal development services will make custom web interfaces a reality.
Concentrating on what patrons want, in particular new data on mobile needs, the Virtual Summit will include a keynote speaker, audience Q&A and panel discussions for academic and public libraries, as well as librarian-moderated twitter chat. Mobile apps, delivery and content on-the-go, as well as self-service options such as patron self-check and holds/renewals in person and online will be panel discussion topics. Vendor product demos will be interspersed between the panel discussions.
Ample time will be allocated to the virtual exhibit hall, which will offer vendor webcast demos and live chat. Featured products include lLS’s and other systems that have driven the digital library transformation. Exhibitors will have downloadable content in the form of white papers, webcasts, product brochures and other sales materials. Booth staff will be available for live chat with attendees.
