Wade Avenue Whole Foods Supports Community Workforce Solutions
The Wade Avenue Whole Foods store has selected Community Workforce Solutions as the “Community Spotlight” organization for the month of February.
Raleigh, N.C. – Community Workforce Solutions, Inc. (CWS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment, announced today that the Wade Avenue Whole Foods selected them as the “Community Spotlight” organization for the month of February. The agency has been granted display space in the store and is the beneficiary of donations made at the register.
CWS will use funds generated by donations for their “green team” supporting projects such as community gardens and decreasing the organization’s environmental impact. Launched in March 2010, the community garden program teaches participants how to plant, water, weed and harvest plants, fruits and vegetables. As well as developing practical vocational skills, the program also develops knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating habits. Harvested food will be given to the program participants and other community members in need.
“Whole Foods is proud to support Community Workforce Solutions and to shine a spotlight on the positive impact its services have on our community,” said Nancy Halberstadt, community outreach specialist with Whole Foods. “Their dedication to persons with disabilities to help them achieve their goals is both admirable and invaluable to the Triangle community.”
“We are honored to be recognized as the featured organization for the Community Spotlight by Whole Foods. This type of community collaboration furthers our agency’s mission and is beneficial to our organization and each of the participants we serve,” said Cheri Howell of CWS. “We thank and applaud Whole Foods for their community involvement.”
Shoppers may contribute by placing money in the designated collection boxes at all registers in the Wade Avenue store or by visiting http://communityworkforcesolutions.com/about-us/do....
