Wallis Partridge says social media giant, Facebook drives more traffic to e-commerce websites than any other networking site.
Hong Kong., April 7, 2014 - (PressReleasePoint) - A Wallis Partridge report has revealed that although Facebook may be considered an “old man” in the social media world, it is still responsible for 85% of all traffic driven to retail and e-commerce websites.
According to a report prepared by Shopify, some 85% of all e-commerce sales orders from clicking on links on social networking sites originate from Facebook. The report showed at clicks on Facebook that led to e-commerce sites jumped by 129% based on from the year to the end of the third quarter of 2013.
“Facebook is becoming more of a utility these days and while that may not necessarily the way it wants to be seen by users, the solidity of being regarded as a utility can make a service provider very attractive to investors” said a Wallis Partridge analyst. “Data of this nature shows advertisers that Facebook-based campaigns can be particularly effective,” he continued.
A key challenge for Facebook has been finding a way to display advertising without detracting from the overall user experience. The site allows users to customize the type of advertising they are exposed to and Wallis Partridge believes that this is likely responsible for its success.
“There were many naysayers who thought that Facebook would have a difficult time generating income from mobile advertisers because mobile users were believed to want to spend as little time as possible checking updates while on the go. Facebook’s shown that not only can it earn revenue from mobile of its site but it can actually generate more than half of its advertising income from mobile users,” opined the Wallis Partridge analyst.
