Washington State University Upgrades Baseball Facility with New Daktronics Integrated Video, Scoring System
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Sept. 9, 2010 – Bailey-Brayton Field, home of Washington State University Cougar baseball, will receive a newintegrated video and scoring systemthis fall. The light emitting diode (LED) video display and scoreboard will be designed, manufactured and installed by Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D.
“The new Daktronics scoreboard is the next step in the process of upgrading Bailey-Brayton Field,” WSU Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. “Having video capability puts us at a level that is equal to the top programs in the country. It is something that can be enjoyed by our student-athletes, fans, donors and alumni.”
The newvideo displayfeatures15 mmpixel spacing and measures nearly 11 feet high by 19 feet wide. The newest in Daktronics technology, it will incorporate picture contrast enhancement, multiple levels of protection from the elements and a more robust cabinet design with an improved ventilation system. It will be capable of showing live video and instant replays, as well as colorful animations, vivid graphics and eye-catching advertisements.
An LEDbaseball scoreboardwill also be installed, giving patrons of Cougar baseball the important information baseball fans crave. The scoreboard will incorporate fixed digit scoring and custom statistics displays with red digits.
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
Bailey-Brayton Field is home to the Washington State University Cougar baseball team in Pullman, Wash. The facility seats 3,500 fans and sits on the edge of campus. It opened at its current location in 1980.
Until 2000, the facility was known simply as Bailey Field. A special rededication ceremony changed the name to Bailey-Brayton Field, acknowledging WSU’s all-time wins leader, Chuck “Bobo” Brayton.
