SEATTLE – February 24, 2014 — WatchGuard® Technologies, a leader in integrated security platforms, today announced that Alex Thurber was recognized on the CRN 2014 Channel Chiefs list as one of this year's 50 Most Influential. The prestigious Channel Chiefs list showcases those executives directly responsible for driving channel sales and growth within their organization, while evangelizing the importance of the channel throughout the entire IT industry.
The 50 Most Influential Channel Chiefs list recognizes an elite subset of these channel executives based on their rank, channel savvy, ability to drive channel strategy within their own organization, and external impact on the channel at large. CRN Channel Chiefs were selected by the CRN editorial team based on channel experience, program innovations, channel-driven revenue, and public support for IT channel sales.
Thurber joined WatchGuard Technologies in 2013 as vice president of sales for Americas and EMEA, and quickly launched several initiatives to intensify the company's channel focus and reward partners. A key element was the rollout of an enhanced deal-registration program that offers an additional 20 points of margin to registering partners, while greatly simplifying the process for them. This program played an integral role in WatchGuard finishing 2013 with record quarterly net billings worldwide of 23 percent in Q4.
"We are pleased to highlight the many executives throughout the industry who work tirelessly to advance the standing of the channel community within their organizations. To be named to CRN's list of the 50 Most Influential Channel Chiefs is among the highest honors in the industry, as we carefully consider all of the key players and select those individuals who have demonstrated a consistent and unwavering commitment to this community. The honorees lead, inspire and engage peers and serve as valuable advocates to help ensure the health and longevity of the channel within the IT industry. We applaud their efforts and look forward to their continued success," said Robert Faletra, CEO, The Channel Company.
"It's an honor to be recognized by CRN for a third time and with the distinction this year of being on of the 50 Most Influential," said Alex Thurber, vice president of sales at WatchGuard Technologies. "WatchGuard had a great year and we'll continue to build on this momentum in 2014 to create a world-class partner program. As the company continues to bring exciting new solutions, like WatchGuard Dimension, to market, we're committed to giving our channel the tools they need to drive revenue and meet customer expectations."
