When established weather data company, Weather2 Ltd, was looking to expand its product range the directors looked to Business Gateway to help them identify some funding to get the project moving.

One year on, the Glasgow company launched Weather Unlocked, a groundbreaking platform for weather API services that is leading the way for businesses to harness the power of weather.

“The business is doing well and our recently launched WeatherTrigger™ API is set to be key part of our growth strategy,” said Production Director, John Armstrong. “It is a breakthrough service which integrates into websites, apps, and commercial software. The service can be used by advertisers to run weather-driven campaigns, or by businesses to anticipate demand for products and services.”

“It is critical that we get the marketing right for our products and our Business Gateway adviser, Denise O’Connor, helped us secure funding from a number of sources to allow us to attend a leading industry conference in Barcelona and also engage a specialist consultant.”

“She also helped with our marketing strategy and used her network of contacts to introduce us to other organisations that could help us take the business forward, including Scottish Development International.”

Denise O’Connor added: “WeatherTrigger™ has multiple applications and John knows that Business Gateway will be there to support him and the team as they look to market this and other new products in the future.”
