The Woolworths Australian Junior Surfing Team Continues their Campaign on Day 3 of the VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championships

Hyuga, Japan, September 26, 2017: Competition intensified at the 2017 VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship today as the first surfers were eliminated from the competition.

Of the 306 competitors hailing from a record-breaking 41 countries, 56 bowed out on this third day the event. Eleven full teams remain unscathed and avoided elimination on the opening day of Repechage Rounds taking place at Okuragahama beach in Hyuga, Japan.

The Woolworths Australian Junior Surfing Team continued their assault across multiple divisions.

The remainder of the Under 16 boy’s Round 2 were run with Jagger Bartholomew and Mikey McDonagh posting convincing wins.

In the Under 18 Girl’s Round two heats, India Robinson continued her great form with a 14.17 heat-winning total, while Zahli Kelly was relegated to Repercharge 2 after placing third.

In the Under 16 Girl’s Round two heats, Jamaica Selby and Sophia Fulton both finished third to be relegated to Repercharge 2.

The official Surfline forecast is calling for an increase in swell with waves in the 3-4 foot range. As the swell increases through the day we will see sets up to 5 feet.

o    7:00am-9:40am – 8 heats Boys U-18 Main Event Round 3

o    9:40am-11:00am – 4 heats Girls U-18 Main Event Round 3

o    11:00am-1:40pm – 8 heats Boys U-16 Main Event Round 3

o    1:40pm-3:00pm – 4 heats Girls U-16 Main Event Round 3

o    3:00pm-5:00pm – 8 heats Girls U-18 Repechage Round 2

Podium 2

o    7:00am-11:00am – 16 heats Boys U-18 Repechage Round 2

o    11:00am-1:00pm – 8 heats Girls U-16 Repechage Round 2

o    1:00pm-5:00pm – 16 heats Boys U-16 Repechage Round 2
