World’s Biggest Aluminum Factory Located in Qatar

Qatar has one of the highest GDP per capita in the world due to the increases in production over the past few years; this created a need to construct more factories in the country . In 2009, FJConsultants, an Architecture & Engineering firm, located in Lebanon, was assigned to work on Qatalum, one of the world’s biggest Aluminum factories, by developing all of the necessary architecture and engineering plans and drawings, along with the supervision of construction. The project was completed in 3 years and it is located in Qatar.

FJConsultants wanted to preserve the heritage of Qatar and to translate it into the design of the project; these beliefs reflect the core values of the company. The concept created is unique and modern, all the while translating the culture and needs of Qatar. The richness of the project is replicated in the design of the square, which is a symbol of purity and complete harmony. The repetition of squares to infinity creates a pattern that reflects the splendor of the space and its unique feel.

FJ Consultants worked on five main buildings and their surrounding landscapes: the administration, the service center, the workshop, the mosque and the guardian house. Every building was studied as an independent entity only linked by the repetition of the pattern and the transparency of the huge open spaces, creating an ambiance of freedom and richness. International standards were applied in order to meet the requirements of the building code and construction in Qatar.
 
Now, Qatalum has a dynamic and diversified work force, representing over 37 nationalities and is pursuing industrial diversity for Qatar and its people, while actively creating a future of industrial environmental sustainability and economic opportunities.
