All business processes become less effective over time. They get fat and less responsive. Managers worried about the recession are beginning to cut costs but often in the wrong places. World Class Solutions (WCS) have launched a CAT Analysis service to help owners and managers cut costs while protecting the core business.

Cork, Ireland October 5, 2008 - (PressReleasePoint)

As the recession begins to bite companies are cutting costs but these cuts can have unintended negative consequences. They often reduce the company’s ability to compete and make it more vulnerable. That can slow down the process of recovery and may eventually doom the company.

World Class Solutions (WCS) have pioneered a new technique called CAT analysis to address this important issue. The acronym stands for “critical activity trace” analysis and the technique is used to identify activities that cannot be eliminated or reduced without serious consequences.

CEO Pat Hough explained the background to the launch of the service. “We found that many companies are looking at ways to save money. They rightly suspect that many of their processes are inefficient but the reaction is to cut budgets across the board. That means that critical activities are cut and the company begins to struggle. That leads to more cuts and a downward spiral begins. The result is inevitable.”

WCS have launched a new website at www.uniquevision.eu to inform executives about CAT Analysis. Pat Hough outlined some of the benefits: “It is very effective at identifying the critical activities that must be protected at all costs but it also identifies activities that are not adding value. Those can be removed or reduced and the resources transferred to critical activities. That means the company will be stronger and the individual processes will be more responsive.”

One of the key benefits of implementing CAT analysis is that process complexity is reduced and this leads to a reduction in the number of errors and mistakes that are made. Pat Hough explained that these benefits can be realized by large and small companies. “Large corporations using CAT analysis will save more money in absolute terms but the percentage gain can be greater in small companies.”
