Yandex Recommends Products and Shows Best Price to iPhone Owners

Internet, March 21, 2011. Yandex has launched the Yandex.Market application for iPhone. This new mobile application allows users to shop for products available online at Yandex.Market, Russia’s most popular comparison shopping service.

Using the Yandex.Market mobile application, the iPhone owners can search for product information, compare prices at a number of online stores and read customer reviews. The application offers product searches by name or by barcode. After scanning the product’s barcode number with the phone’s camera, the user can see results for this particular item on the phone’s screen. The Yandex.Market application provides detailed information about the product, its price at a range of online stores and customer reviews for the specific model. This feature is especially handy when there is no one around to help a shopper considering a purchase in an offline store.

Currently, the Yandex.Market application recognizes about 1.5 million barcode numbers. The shopper using the Yandex.Market application can scan the barcode of a tv set, laptop, camera, game console, book or any other product in an offline store and see if there is a lower price for the same item offered online. The application also enables interested customers to make a call straight to the vendor and place their order.

The first version of the Yandex.Market application was released for smart phones supporting Andriod. Since its launch in December last year, the application has had over 68,000 downloads. Smart phone owners use their Yandex.Market application mostly to find cell phones, tablets or laptops.
