A new clinic in the centre of Stirling is offering a range of health and wellbeing therapies to help people cope with the stresses and strains of modern living.

The clinic is located in One Allan Park, a beautiful Georgian townhouse that has been lovingly restored by founder and manager, Fiona Gavine.

“I believe there is a need for people to invest in themselves. My mother died of cancer when she was only 63 and she was part of that generation of women who were so busy looking after everyone else’s health that they sometimes forgot about themselves! We all lead busy lives with lots of different elements bombarding us and competing for our attention so I think it is important to look after yourself,” explained Fiona.

The idea of the clinic came from Fiona’s interest in health personally and as a scientist – she originally trained as a biochemist – and her involvement with NHS Forth Valley Health Board. The therapies on offer in One Allan Park were developed through discussions with holistic health practitioners and local GP’s who are now starting to refer clients for sports massage, hypnotherapy, counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy.

Frank Dunne, Business Adviser with Business Gateway Stirling, said: “One Allan Park offers a holistic approach to health and wellbeing by providing a comprehensive range of therapies under one attractively renovated roof. Fiona is a hands-on entrepreneur and, with an interest in historic buildings, completed most of the property’s refurbishment herself. She has a team of 15 therapists and is the driving force with an eye for the bigger picture. Business Gateway looks forward to supporting Fiona and One Allan Park as the business develops.”

Fiona adds: “I’ve known Frank for a number of years, having sought his advice previously, so he was my first port of call when I started thinking about the clinic. It’s been useful to have his input and he offered guidance on my business plan.  Business Gateway Stirling is currently helping with marketing and social media support as well as IT assistance for my website.”

One Allan Park is focussed on six main areas: Pain Relief, Stress/Anxiety, Nutrition, Zest for Life, Chronic Conditions and Relaxation. The clinic welcomes those seeking peace of mind, increased energy and ways to improve the quality of their lives. It is a one-stop-shop of offerings ranging from sports massage, osteopathy, homeopathy and aromatherapy, to counselling, craniosacral and hypnotherapy. Although clients attend with a variety of specific conditions including chronic pain, stress or anxiety many are seeking an hour or so of relaxation while others want nutritional advice to help ongoing concerns.

“All of our therapists take a whole body/ holistic approach taking into account the psychological, emotional and physical state of a client to ensure optimal and lasting results. We have had a great start since opening with a number of regulars already and a lot of repeat custom for maintenance massage, reflexology and osteopathy.

“Our aim is to help people improve their lives so I’m keen to raise awareness of our presence so more people can take advantage of our facilities. My goal is to increase our profile and reach potential new clients through our website and social media channels. And at the moment I have little time for networking so I hope to employ a receptionist/ practice manager  who will free me up to make connections with groups who would benefit from our holistic approach to health” said Fiona.
