Love came in the form of heart shaped bunting for ZSL London Zoo’s Bolivian squirrel monkeys yesterday.

Zookeepers gave the inquisitive primates bunting covered with honey as an early Valentines Day present.

A lot of monkey business has resulted in the troop of 18 nearly doubling in number over the past few years, with the addition of five babies last year.

Zookeeper Kate Sanders said: “They enjoyed investigating the bunting but they were definitely more interested in their honey.”

She added: “They may be Bolivian squirrel monkeys but they breed like rabbits – so hopefully we could be expecting the pitta patter of more tiny monkey feet very soon.”
