Switzerland’s top airport relies on QlikView to help optimize flight operations

QlikTech, (NASDAQ: QLIK) a leader in Business Discovery – user-driven Business Intelligence (BI), today announced that Flughafen Zürich AG, the operator of Zurich Airport, Switzerland’s largest airport, has implemented QlikView company-wide to analyze performance data to ensure flight operations run efficiently and reliably. QlikView was also chosen to replace SAP BW for its superior scalability, flexibility and performance.
Last year Zurich Airport had more than 24.8 million passengers, resulting in massive amounts of data being processed across the organization. To improve operations Flughafen Zürich AG decided to capitalize on this data to increase visibility across the organization, better track performance and discover new ways to streamline operations and minimize travel delays. To do this they replaced a number of siloed, disparate BI tools being used throughout the organization, including SAP BW, and implemented a centralized self-service BI program powered by QlikView. The new QlikView solution is available to approximately 500 users across the organization.

With QlikView, employees can perform deep-dive analytics on data pertaining to airport operations, parking, facilities management, finance, and information and communications technology. The platform allows users to measure data against pre-defined key performance indicators (KPIs) or perform ad hoc inquiries on the fly. This ranges from capacity analysis within the airport infrastructure to evaluations of process times in direct flights. With this insight the airport operator can uncover areas of improvement to help ensure regular flight operations.
