AFIA Opens Registration for PCQI Training, Announces New Refresher Course

• The AFIA has opened registration for its FSPCA PCQI training course. The course will be held July 15-17, in Nashville, Tenn.
• The training, developed by the FSPCA, is the “standardized curriculum” that the Food and Drug Administration recognizes as adequate for PCQI training.
• Later this year, the AFIA will offer a PCQI refresher training for individuals who previously completed PCQI training and want to refresh their understanding of FSMA compliance. This course will be held Dec. 9-10, in Nashville, Tenn.

The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has opened registration for its 2025 Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FPSCA) Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) training .

“ PCQI training is essential for ensuring the safety and compliance of animal food manufacturing, ” said Gary Huddleston, AFIA’s director of feed manufacturing and regulatory affairs. “ This in-person course not only provides the necessary knowledge to meet regulatory requirements but also fosters valuable peer-to-peer learning.”

The FSPCA PCQI training will be held July 15-17, in Nashville, Tenn. The course adequate for PCQI training. Successfully completing this course is one way for animal food manufacturers to meet the requirements for a PCQI. Upon completion of the course, individuals will receive a certificate of completion issued by the FSPCA. The course will cover Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirements for animal food, current good manufacturing practice requirements and topics related to animal food safety plans. In addition to the training, the AFIA will host an evening reception.

On Dec. 9-10, the AFIA will also offer PCQI refresher training for individuals who previously completed PCQI training but need to refresh their understanding of FSMA compliance. While not a full recertification course, this session will revisit some of the key concepts learned from the standardized PCQI training, offering a streamlined review to those already familiar with the core material. Registration for the refresher course, which will take place in Nashville, Tenn., will open this summer.
