Lawrence Ng named regional head, tasked with accelerating customers’ modernization strategies through integrated data strategy

Singapore – February 13, 2020 – Boomi™, a Dell Technologies™ business, has appointed Lawrence Ng as General Manager for South East Asia, with responsibility for enabling organizations in the region to accelerate their digital roadmaps and capitalize on the benefits of an integrated data strategy.

Boomi is a cloud-based integration platform that connects everything in a digital ecosystem, including the applications and data on which organizations rely on to run their businesses. With a low-code design, it accelerates the launch of new services while simplifying adoption of advanced technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain. Scoot Airlines and GlobalFoundries are among the 10,000 companies worldwide that use Boomi.

As head of South East Asia, Ng is tasked with partnering with existing customers on their integration journey and growing the overall region as the adoption of cloud technologies soars. Research shows 1  the Asia-Pacific (APAC) public cloud services and infrastructure spend was forecasted to increase by 47.1 per cent to US$26 billion in 2019, and is expected to reach US$76.1bn by 2023. However, cloud adoption in the region continues to be hindered by  challenges around integrating cloud and legacy applications.

“In the last five years, the private sector in South East Asia – and to an increasing extent, government agencies – have become significantly more open towards cloud services,” said Ng. “Data sovereignty is less of a roadblock because local companies have realized they can better manage their costs while ensuring the security of that data.

“This has spurred significant digital investments, which has left Asian companies with the critical need to integrate across divisions, functions and applications, whether it’s in the cloud, or even behind their own firewalls. CXOs are therefore grappling with the challenge of dissolving data silos across cloud-based and legacy applications, while at the same time keeping their teams focused on business growth priorities rather than maintenance coding for the sake of it.”

Ng’s priorities include expanding existing relationships with Boomi’s South East Asia-based global systems integrator (GSI) and local partners, while also engaging key joint accounts with Dell Technologies to help new and existing customers accelerate their digitization.

Ng joins Boomi from Oracle where he was Sales Director for its cloud platform infrastructure business in Singapore, before becoming its regional sales director for SaaS business. Prior, he held sales and business development leadership positions at Cisco. Ng is a career military officer, having served in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) across various appointments, including acting as a Chief Technology Officer to senior decision-makers.

Ng will report to Ajit Melarkode, Vice President Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ), Boomi.

Asia is not only evolving in terms of its advanced technology use cases, but also in the number of local companies and locally-based multi-billion-dollar conglomerates that are trying to make sense of the data that exists in the different companies and divisions across various sub-regions,” said Melarkode. “Boomi addresses that need in the market for a low code integration platform that is easy to implement and maintain, without the need for specialist developers. Organizations in this region are realizing why Boomi has 10,000 customers globally with a 97 per cent renewal rate.

“With expertise in leading SaaS and cloud businesses across APJ and experience at Boomi partners such as Oracle, Lawrence is ideally suited to lead our South Asia operations as we continue to rapidly expand our presence in this region. We also greatly value Lawrence’s background as a career army officer with the Singapore Armed Forces and his perspectives on rapidly co-opting local talent at our APJ base in Singapore.”
