San Mateo, CA July 13, 2009 (PressreleasePoint) -- With the new release of SATS Cerberus Monitoring System SATS now can monitor MS SQL 2008 on 64 bit platforms using ODBC.
The Cerberus agent was delayed originally because Microsoft dropped any support for native DWLIBC connections from SQL 2008. This problem caused a lot of pain to third party software developers like SATS (www.sats.net).
Developers have been left with two choices only - use .NET or use ODBC. In a monitoring and database support business one can not possibly hope to install the required version of .NET (or Java for that matter)on the back-end database server and hope this will "fly" with the client's company management. However ODBC is always present.
So after lots of work with downsizing the power of monitoring to fit into the "narrows" of the ODBC, finally SATS was able to get support for the new SQL 2008 on both 32 bit and 64bit Windows 2003 platforms.
