The Florida Department of Management Services Highlights Governor Ron DeSantis’ Commitment to Protecting State’s Digital Assets in Focus on Fiscal Responsibility Budget

TALLAHASSEE, FL. – Today, the Florida Department of Management Services highlighted recommendations in Governor Ron DeSantis’ Focus on Fiscal Responsibility Budget that build on his commitments to public safety, cybersecurity resiliency, and efficient service delivery for citizens.

Time and time again, Governor DeSantis has led with a clear vision and given the Department the resources to carry out that mission,” said DMS Secretary Pedro Allende . “While the rest of the nation recovers from the Biden administration’s failures, Florida never missed a beat and this budget proves that.”

The FY 2025-26 Focus on Fiscal Responsibility Budget highlights include:

  • $1.8 million in grant funding for fiscally constrained counties to maintain upgraded 911 public safety answering points to ensure the effective transfer of calls from one local, multi-jurisdictional, or regional E911 system to another.
  • 2.6 million for an additional 5,000 BeOn licenses to further assist law enforcement officers with connectivity by extending the range of emergency radio coverage to utilize broadband, Wi-Fi, and cellular data services.
  • $2 million to construct, relocate, or remediate Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System towers – reducing reliance on leased towers and increasing capabilities for state-owned towers.
  • $57 million for phase one construction of a new state employee facility and parking garage at the Capitol Circle Office Complex, which will consolidate approximately 1,000 positions and reduce operating costs.
  • $10 million to fund the Local Government Cybersecurity Grant Program to equip local fiscally constrained governments with resources to implement robust cybersecurity threat detection and prevention capabilities.
  • $12 million increase to harden Florida’s cybersecurity framework by continuing and expanding enterprise cybersecurity initiatives to ensure Floridians’ sensitive information and critical infrastructure are protected.
  • $2 million for a new app-based service, which will have a guaranteed ROI, to encourage state employees to utilize health insurance benefits more appropriately and increase participation in programs that save the state and member money on medical procedures.
