Interactive Experience Encourages Public Sector Employees to Save
WASHINGTON, July 27, 2016 -- ICMA-RC's RealizeRetirement® Tour is making stops across the country through November 2016 and is pleased to be visiting Michigan locations (below) through August 12. The mobile, interactive experience is a dynamic and engaging way to promote public sector employees saving for retirement. The Tour includes multiple interactive areas for local and state government employees to explore, including a personalized animation app, a public-sector virtual reality exhibit, a giant selfie station, and a digital prize wheel. Local representatives from ICMA-RC will also be at each Tour stop to share retirement planning information and answer questions.
"We are excited to bring our leading-edge, interactive RealizeRetirement experience to Michigan, and to connect with public sector employees in Michigan communities," said Gregory Dyson, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ICMA-RC. "Our objective is to raise the level of awareness of retirement goals by using the dynamic combination of innovative technology and our team of knowledgeable local representatives to expand savings across the generations."
A key feature on the RealizeRetirement Tour is the "My Retirement Dreams" animation app, which allows public sector employees to experience a positive image of their future self when they retire. Users will answer a few questions and snap their pictures, and will see an instant personalized animated video of themselves in retirement.
The Tour's virtual reality exhibit spotlights moments in the day of three public sector employees — a firefighter during a training session, a parks and recreation planner at a dog park, and a sports commission employee on a stadium rooftop — giving users a unique, 360-degree view of these professions. The scenes were filmed using a multiple-camera unit designed especially for virtual reality filming.
The Tour's Selfie Station allows users to "picture" themselves in future travel destinations and share their photos via text, email, or social media. The final area on the Tour is the digital prize wheel where participants can spin to win a prize to keep as a reminder of their RealizeRetirement experience.
At each stop, local ICMA-RC representatives will be available to assist public sector employees with enrollment, answering plan-related questions, or walking through the wide selection of educational resources available.
