New members of the BSAS Global Association Committee - tasked with advancing responsible, safe, high-welfare and environmentally sustainable animal production globally - have recently been announced.
The group, chaired by BSAS Senior Vice President Professor Michael Lee, comprises of science and industry experts in animal science from around the world, who aim to establish formal animal science networks globally and develop current links with like-minded international societies.
The group aim to:
Develop BSAS Global by identifying areas of research needs and work with partners to create funding and support opportunities, particularly in developing countries
Create a global network of relevant organisations to share and improve benefits including partner events and resource sharing
Research suitable global digital media platforms and distribute scientific papers, opinion pieces and news to a global audience
Speaking about the development of the BSAS Global Association Committee, Professor Michael Lee said:
‘I am delighted by the calibre of our first global committee to address the needs of animal science internationally. The Global Association will make the work we do within BSAS relevant to our global stakeholders and allow us to work closer together to address the major issues which face our sector’.
‘I very much look forward to working with the Global Committee to open up new links and opportunities for all BSAS members around the world’.
During their first official committee meeting in York next month, the Global group have been charged to develop strategies to strengthen links with like-minded societies in each of the geographical areas as represented below.
