NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 12, 2019) – National Pro Fastpitch will host its hallmark event Championship Series this week in Rosemont, Illinois. The action format is a best-of-five series between the league’s regular season Champions, Chicago Bandits, and the 2019 second place finisher in the regular season, the USSSA Pride. Park Planet, for the second season in a row is the league’s presenting sponsor on the event.
All live action will be available via live streaming on various platforms, including the league’s season long partner, Flo Softball. Championship Series broadcast veterans, Eric Collins and Barb Jordan will once again deliver the play by play action and expert analysis for every pitch throughout the 3-5 day event. Savanna Collins and Kacy Standohar will be reporting from the sidelines throughout the Series and Chuckie Kempf will anchor the thirty minute Championship Series Pre-Game Show presented by Wilson, prior to each game.
Many special guests will be on hand for the Series and its ancillary events that include an annual Awards Banquet and reception hosted on Wednesday eventing. Special guests and personalities that will be on hand include Taryn Papa, Nashville singer/songwriter who wrote and recorded the original song of “Rise Up” for the league in 2019; Julia Cole, singer/songwriter; the acts of Nashville Electric Company, Band X, and The Prissilla’s headlining the Tailgate event each day of August 15th through 17th. Cori Kennedy will be delivering behind-the-scenes happenings throughout the week with her trademark flavorful twist, via social media.
The Awards Banquet itself, will celebrate the accomplishment of the two team participants and also the outstanding performances of individuals throughout the league. The heralded honors of Player of the Year presented by Park Planet, Pitcher of the Year presented by Diamond Sports, Rawlings Gold Glove, Louisville Slugger Offensive Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year presented by 805 Stats, headline the more than 25 awards handed out on Wednesday night.
The Championship Series takes place for the second year in a row at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex, located on the edge of Chicago, in Rosemont, Illinois. The Series begins on August 15th and will play one game per day until its conclusion. The Series comes on the heels of the 16th season of competition in the NPF that included 134 games of regular season competition. The Chicago Bandits captured their seventh regular season title with an overall record of 38-7. The first place finish, gives the Bandits home team privileges for the first and third games of the Series, and if necessary, the fifth.
