USITC Institutes Section 337 Investigation of Certain Submarine Telecommunication Systems and Components Thereof
The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) has voted to institute an investigation of certain submarine telecommunication systems and components thereof. The products at issue in the investigation are used to globally transmit, carry, and receive data through a global mesh of submarine fiber-optic cables to interconnect the world’s cities, and include the following products identified in the complaint: NU-Wave Optima, the Flexible Gateway Family, the Open System Gateway and the Virtual Fiber Gateway.

NeoPhotonics to Demonstrate at OFC a 64 Gbaud Coherent Optical Sub-Assembly (COSA) for Coherent 400G-1.2T Applications
The 64Gbaud COSA contains a coherent I/Q modulator co-packaged with drivers, as well as a coherent receiver co-packaged with trans-impedance amplifiers. The COSA is based on NeoPhotonics photonic integration technology and uses design elements that have been proven in production. The COSA is approximately the same size as either the discrete CDM or the discrete Micro-ICR, and so cuts the component footprint in half while simplifying fiber management and board layout. When the COSA is combined with NeoPhotonics external cavity Nano-ITLA, which is also half the size of its Micro-ITLA predecessor, the size of the optics for next generation modules is cut in half without impacting performance, meeting the requirements for OSFP pluggable modules and compact daughter cards.
