While Republicans are already on defense over their agenda of tax hikes , which could raise taxes on 35.5% of Texans, and raised premiums , they will also have to spend this April recess explaining their record of voting against measures to lower costs for Americans. Over the past two weeks, Republicans in Congress have voted against bills to make insulin more affordable , which as many as 2.7 million Texans rely on, and help as many as 12,000 Texas restaurants and businesses who didn’t receive the first round of Restaurant Revitalization Fund relief cover costs.
House Democrats, meanwhile, overwhelmingly voted in favor of bills to cap the monthly cost of insulin at $35 and get much needed relief to local businesses. And President Biden has proposed a plan to make sure billionaires’ taxes go up – not working Texans.
See for yourself how Democrats and Republicans’ agendas stack up against each other:
The difference couldn’t be more clear — while President Biden and Democrats want to make the wealthiest pay their fair share to help lower costs for working Texans, Republicans have no plan to lower costs – leaving working Texans to foot the bill.
