New 448 Area Code Coming to North Florida in 2021
TALLAHASSEE — With new phone numbers in high demand in North Florida, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) today approved an area code overlay that will add a new 448 area code to the area now served by the existing 850 area code. Expected to begin in mid-2021, the new area code overlay will affect only new phone numbers.

TNS Robocall Survey: Consumers Want More Control or Options to Combat Robocalls
A survey of US wireless carrier subscribers released today by Transaction Network Services (TNS) finds that only 39% of consumers want their carrier to automatically block all calls from numbers not in their mobile phone contact list. While the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted in June 2019 to allow wireless carriers to automatically block unwanted robocalls for all subscribers, this survey indicates that a majority of consumers are not yet ready to have their carrier or mobile device manufacturer automatically block all unwanted calls.

TNS Survey: Americans Now Receive 200 Million Unwanted Robocalls per Day
While the top six U.S. carriers (AT&T, CenturyLink, Comcast, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon) account for 70% of total call volume, only 12% of high risk (scam/fraud) robocalls originate from numbers owned by these Tier-1 carriers – according to the 2019 First Half Robocall Investigation Report released today by Transaction Network Services (TNS). The data suggest that while top carriers are making inroads in the fight against robocalls, VoIP providers and smaller regional carriers need to take more aggressive action as bad actors shift focus to their networks.
