With so much at stake this election cycle, Texas Democrats are doing all they can to ensure everyone eligible to vote has the opportunity to have their voices heard and counted. Which is in stark contrast to Texas Republicans who spent last year slashing voting rights by passing restrictive voting laws aimed at silencing millions of Texans and especially those living in predominantly Hispanic and Black Communities.
Texas Democrats have made it clear that Federal Voting Rights legislation is needed and that they will continue to fight for democracy and the protection of every eligible voter across our state.
Texas Democratic Party Voter Protection Director Rose Clouston issued the following statement:
“We are doing what the State of Texas isn’t: we are making voting as easy as possible. Our goal is to make sure all eligible Texans are given the opportunity to cast their vote. Hundreds of thousands of Texans aged 65 and older rely on mail-in voting, and we are doing our part to ensure that they have everything they need to make their voices heard.
“Our vote-by-mail program is one of the most important voter turnout programs we run as the Texas Democratic Party, and now more than ever it’s crucial we get people the tools and resources they need. We can’t rely on our Republican-run state government to do this for us. Texas Republicans have made it very clear that they only think Republicans should have the right to vote and it is therefore incumbent on us to help voters navigate the maze of voting laws Republicans have erected–too much is at stake if we don’t.”
