Celebrating the pleasure of running, "regardless of occupation, age, gender, and country" is the concept of Tokyo Marathon 2020. As an Official Partner, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will provide products and information to support runners' conditioning from the preparation stage, throughout the race, and at the finish line.
Information on heat stroke countermeasures and other seasonally appropriate physical conditioning practices will be disseminated in multiple languages for Japanese and international runners and other interested parties.
Otsuka Pharmaceutical is collaborating with universities to provide opportunities to learn through experience, aiming to nurture human resources for future active engagement on the international stage and roles in supporting sports.
Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head office: Tokyo, Japan; President: Tatsuo Higuchi) will once again serve as an Official Partner for Tokyo Marathon 2020, scheduled for Sunday, March 1, 2020. Beginning with the first running of the popular city marathon, this marks the company's 14th consecutive year of sponsorship.
Attracting approximately 38,000 runners, the world-famous Tokyo Marathon is Asia's largest international city marathon. As the event grows in international stature, the number of runners from overseas has been increasing every year. As many as 8,000 visiting runners are expected to participate in Tokyo Marathon 2020.
To support local and international runners in their efforts to complete the full distance safely and enjoyably, products including POCARI SWEAT, BODYMAINTÉ, Amino-Value and CalorieMate will be provided at appropriate timing throughout the race at aid stations positioned from before the start, along the course, and after the finish line.
As well as providing information about hydration and nutrition to support runners aiming to complete the full distance, the Otsuka Pharmaceutical booth will also introduce the concept of "Japanese Four Season Conditioning."

■Physical conditioning and Japan's four seasons: Addressing climate change
Physical conditioning in the context of climate change, particularly heat stroke countermeasures in response to recent rises in temperature, is becoming a health issue not only in Japan, but around the world. As an accredited program of SPORT FOR TOMORROW*, an international contribution through sport initiative led by the Japanese government, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will provide participating international runners and Tokyo Marathon EXPO 2020 visitors with information related to the characteristics of Japan's four seasons and physical conditioning for each. This will include information about climate change as it relates to conditioning, including measures to deal with heat. Through dissemination of information based on a pharmaceutical perspective, including relevant product-related information, Otsuka Pharmaceutical seeks to contribute to better health worldwide.

Hydration activities at Tokyo Marathon 2019
Otsuka Pharmaceutical is contributing to development of future human resources for future active engagement on the international stage and roles in supporting sports by collaborating with universities to use the Tokyo Marathon as a learning opportunity for students. University students will be provided with opportunities to learn through experiencing various interactions and volunteer activities at this international event, including providing information on conditioning to Japanese and international visitors to the Otsuka Pharmaceutical booth at Tokyo Marathon EXPO 2020 and assisting with hydration at the aid station at the 30km point on race day.
Students who aspire to future activity on the international stage such as foreign language students and international students Students who are currently involved in sports and/or health-related fields or plan to be involved following graduation.

Assist Otsuka Pharmaceutical employees to provide participating runners and other visitors, both local and international, with information about conditioning to support running the full distance and about sports nutrition in general. The information, to be provided in multiple languages, will incorporate topics such as conditioning for running in Japan's four seasons.
・ Volunteering at on-course aid station
Assist with hydration for runners at the 30km point aid station by distributing POCARI SWEAT.
