Thomas Edison is the Founder of the Company. He was born, in 1847, in Milan, Ohio. His education came from reading R.G. Parker's School of Natural Philosophy and The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. H. Lawrence Culp Jr. is the CEO of the Company. He obtained his bachelors of arts degree from Washington College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Two employees of GE—Irving Langmuir (1932) and Ivar Giaever (1973)—have been awarded the Nobel Prize.
