Southeast Missouri State University is reporting a 51% vaccination rate as part of The Great SEMO Vaccine Give Away Get Away incentive program . The vaccination rate reflects the number of faculty, staff and students that have shared proof of vaccination with the University. This is an increase from the Sept. 21 rate of 42% and puts the University on the path to achieve its goal of 70% vaccination rate among students, faculty and staff by Nov. 1.
“It is exciting to see our progress over the past week,” said Dr. Debbie Below, vice president for enrollment management and student success. “I appreciate the commitment of our Redhawk community to improve our chances of continuing to do things we love to do and keep our University community safe.”
Southeast students, faculty and staff can upload a scan or photo of their vaccination card or present their card in person at locations on the main and regional campuses.
If the 70% goal is achieved, students, faculty and staff will enjoy a weeklong Thanksgiving holiday break. Classes scheduled for Nov. 22 and 23 will be cancelled and offices will be closed Nov. 22-26.
Additionally, the next round of cash prize drawings for students will be Monday, Oct. 4. Students only need to submit their vaccination card once to be eligible for all drawings. If a student hasn’t submitted their proof of vaccination yet, they have until Friday to submit to be eligible for the Oct. 4 drawing. There will be 20 $500 prizes and 20 $250 prizes for the drawing.
On Sept. 20, 80 students were among the first round of winners from the Get Away, Give Away Program. 40 students earned $500 in cash prizes and 40 students earned $250 in cash prizes. Drawings will continue through Nov. 1.
Walk-in vaccination clinics are also scheduled every Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the University Center Program Lounge.
